The Cradle was the inverse of the annual temple burn on the Black Rock City playa. Participants could put something personal in the cradle, leave it in the past and maybe even pave their way to a new future. Participants who entered the installation empty-handed could shed their past with our sketchers, poets, shamans and other artists who would help them craft a flammable piece of personal art.
Two weeks of participation resulted in a heartwarming collection of highly personal art and culminated in the Cradle Burn during the barefoot party, Shoeless. And boy, did it burn nicely!
The wooden installation was pitched at Magneet Festival, funded by Shoeless and co-created with the Ruigoord-based Dutch Artist Family, the Dutch Burner community and the participants of Magneet Festival.
