How do you make academic research on global hunger accessible to high schoolers, while still addressing the nuances of this politically sensitive topic? That’s a hard nut to crack, especially for the original researchers.

So together with the scientists of the Heritages of Hunger project we turned their knowledge on famine into an online exhibition. Based on their input, I dished out some well-balanced copy on the topic.

The exhibition is structured as a 6-course menu, with each course introduced by a succinct statement to spark interest among young audiences. Each section is enriched with media and contemporary examples of famine.

I got involved with the project before the humanitarian crisis in Gaza escalated and it was launched just after the UN warned of a potential famine, highlighting the exhibition’s relevance and urgency.
